co-learners in the school of social media

This is where you can add your feedback on the Seesmic Web beta site.
It would be helpful to note the following info:
  • Browser, Version
  • OS Version.
One of the things you may want to try is to clear your browser cache (especially if you use Seesmic Web on the same browser).

UPDATE - 2/10/2010 2:08 Pacific time - Thanks to the feedback, we may have found a few things that require to close the beta site momentarily before we resume testing. This has been very helpful and will keep you posted.

UPDATE - 2/10/2010 3:15 Pacific time - Beta is back up - will follow up with those that weren't able to log in - thanks!

Would be nice when posting an image if we could select our own option for where we post. Currently it only lets you post to Yfrog.

Hello team seesmic, congrats for your work on seesmic web/android :)
//avoir des français dans l'équipe ça aide aussi! ça apporte des expressions du style "Qu'est ce tu branles?" et donc un gain de productivité

I'll try to be concise, I don't had time to read previous feedbacks, so my apologizes if this had already been noticed. If necessary i can give more details on some points :)

Improvements:
-speed of loading! I have not compared with speed tracer, but with a Chrome dev 5.x (or FF minefield) and a bandwith of 10m, it's faster than Gmail load. (new update of GWT?)
-Photos/videos/links previews ! The a:hover (le survol) preview was really annoying.
-the left sidebar
-list support and management
-trendings topics (I guess local trendings will appear in the next version)
-geoloc tweets
-new profil preview <3 But il lacks lists, I don't care of user's favorites!
-send by email (I hope there will be another services like fb/pearltrees/buzz
-"Quote" (quote>>>retweet)
-conversation threads <3

What could be improved?

-UI Some details could be corrected. A line between message/DM/contacts for example or an a:active effects. You should remove the twitter's logo on each tweets and also the star. I don't know if many people bring in favorites tweets, but it would be better in the "+" menu. We could win 10px/column and it will not be in conflict with the new drag&drop functionnality! You really need to focus on profiles pictures, make them bigger please :) It's easier to recognize a tweet from the picture than the username.

-in the "without avatar" mode, delete the twitter logo/star/3min ago. Keep it simple: author tweet (max 95char). If the user wants to know more, he will click. Maybe just add the "+"menu for a fast RT/reply.

-add picture option to reply
-Now "in reply to" and "Loic" are separated...I think most of users prefer to see conversation than user profile. Go back, it was very good before.

-new profile preview <3 But il lacks lists/listed, I don't care of user's favorites! Like I said, nobody brings in favorite... excepted robert scoble. (Loic: 37favorites on 22k+ tweets)

-in the contact page, the most important feature lacks: the user's timeline. Instead, I have a huge hole in my 24" screen :'(
MrTweet is a cool feature, but when I click on more details in a profile preview, I expect to see all the details (Bio, relations... and the timeline if it's public)

-in the same page, i'm also confused to see all my contacts beside. If it's possible, that could be so great to see our mutual followers/following, or if not, put this listin the "My contacts" tab or a hidden option. We are not always managing our contacts list, but I often need more details on users :)

-opportunity to turn off the twitter retweet... I am always confused when there are new avatars on my timeline.
-multi accounts (yeah I know it's difficult)
-change the width of columns (GL to do that^^)
-a translation option (usefull with hashtag)
-like the conversation thread, a hashtag thread preview
-third party service (twunch, meetup service, twitter chat...) seesmic web labs? (add a tab on the left)
-in the black theme, we need more black/grey/white contrast :)
-Delete the black background, that will be nicer with the same colour as the header/left nav.
-a chatroulette-like but with a twitter auth? (the return of seesmic video ^^)

I think I have finished :)
Sorry for my poor English, as you can see I'm French (that's also why I'm so boring). //et en plus je suis breton
Despite what I have written, seesmic web is and will remain my favorite twitter client!

Congrats to all of us.
//Bravo johann&loic&mathieu !

Thank you for the fantastic feedback! Very helpful and you're english is fine, and it's not boring at all - in fact, quite the opposite! You rock!

I think Loic should respond to one particular concern "as you can see I'm French (that's also why I'm so boring)" I am pretty sure he would have something to say about the French being boring ;-).

And yes, that is excellent feedback. I have not had enough time to try the Beta version of Seesmic Web so cannot add anything but witty comments at this time!

Last thing for the link preview, that would be nice to have the link above the texte (cf pic)

Seesmic Web keeps improving! The UI looks and feels more polished this iteration. Good work...

Now, for some other feedback. I want to love Seesmic Web and use it as my default Twitter client but have the following issues:

1. Seesmic Web columns are too wide -- I can only see 2.5 columns on my laptop with 1280px width. In Hootsuite, I can see up to four. Because horizontal scrolling is a bitch, Hootsuite wins. They give me the flexibility to choose column widths from one through four. With Seesmic Web, its either one spanning column or 2.5 columns.

2. Hootsuite allows me to setup many tabs with columns that I define. Seesmic Web provides just the default tab. I understand that Seesmic Web offers lists and other filters on the far left, but the extra categorization that Hootsuite provides is appreciated.

thanks David, the more narrow columns are coming in the next iteration, you should be happy. Good call about the tabs, we are planning to add them in the future.

Very nice, Loic. You have a great team. I look forward to using Seesmic more and more!
